Punjab Government announces stipend for college teaching interns

Over 8,000 interns to benefit; BS-level interns to receive Rs. 65,000 monthly, with special quotas for minorities

Punjab government has announced the monthly stipend package of 4.217 billion for college teaching interns. Under this program, more than 8,000 interns will be provided financial support.

BS level interns will be provided stipend of Rs. 65,000, however Intermediate level interns will get stipend of Rs. 55,000. The internship period will be 10 months for BS level interns and 7 months for intermediate level interns.

Certificate will also be provided to all interns at the end of program. The purpose of this step is to support young teachers and to improve the quality of higher education.

To ensure participation in the program, a specific quota has also been allocated. For minorities 404 seats, 243 seats for disabled people and 40 seats for transgender community have been allocated.

The budget of stipends and administrative expenses will be fulfilled from the total budget of 4.217 billion rupees. This policy will play an important role to promote education in rural areas and improve the teaching ability in government colleges.

According to the spokesman of Punjab Government this step is the part of making youth independent and strengthen educational system.
